I want to give a big thank you to Sputnik Theatre, BCU and The Rep for allowing me to be a part in this project. For the past few weeks I’ve been working alongside Leicester rapper Stanza Divan, Dr Noah Birksted-Breed and Professor Rajinder Dudrah to redevelop the Russian play ‘Oxygen’ by Ivan Vyrpaev into a Hiphop theatre piece.
The purpose of this project was to explore Slanguages (https://www.creativeml.ox.ac.uk/projects/slanguages)and how they effect modern society. We felt that our generation has to be bilingual- your understanding of the language of the streets and The Queen’s English can determine your progression through life.
Although we only had 10 full days to work on the project- the R&D session was a massive success & I hope we’re able to develop this further.
